Transition and Toddler Room

In this busy and joyful classroom, up to sixteen adventurous toddlers are supported by two caring and attentive teachers. During the day, children may work together as a whole group or be gently divided into smaller groups for focused activities, all within the same shared environment. Outdoor time is alternated to allow for more space to move, explore, and play. Our goal is to make sure every child has room to learn at their own pace, build friendships, and begin growing their independence in a warm and supportive space.

Teaching Philosophy

Our toddler room is grounded in the belief that each child is capable, unique, and full of potential. We balance gentle structure with meaningful freedom, allowing children to explore their environment while also learning routines, expectations, and social skills.

We strive to:

  • Foster curiosity through hands-on exploration

  • Support emotional growth with patience and consistent guidance

  • Encourage independence in everyday routines

  • Model empathy, kindness, and respect

During this stage, children are learning how to communicate, cooperate, and express big feelings. Our classroom is designed to help them do so with confidence, support, and love.

Expectations

The toddler environment focuses on helping children develop a strong foundation of both emotional and social skills. We guide toddlers as they:

  • Learn to express themselves through words and play

  • Practice sharing, taking turns, and cooperating with others

  • Build independence in daily routines like eating, cleaning up, and washing hands

  • Begin solving small problems and making choices

We celebrate progress over perfection. Every achievement—whether it's trying a new activity, expressing a feeling, or playing alongside a friend—is recognized and supported.

What Inspires Our Work

Teaching toddlers is joyful, meaningful work. At Cornerstone Academy, we believe that the early years are a time of rapid growth, discovery, and identity-building.

Our passion comes from:

  • Seeing children learn who they are and how they fit in their world

  • Supporting families through one of the most exciting developmental stages

  • Watching curiosity turn into confidence, and exploration turn into understanding

We are committed to providing a caring, responsive, and playful environment where toddlers can feel safe, loved, and capable as they grow into independent preschoolers.
